Alfred Russell Original Modern Vintage New Classicism Hellenistic NY Abstract Expressionist Mixed Media Aquatint Collage Painting "Maps Charts"
Alfred Russell was born in 1920 in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated and received his MFA at the University of Michigan, then prepared for a doctorate in Art History at Columbia University. He taught Art at Brooklyn College, from 1946 to 1976.
Alfred Russell gained early recognition in the initial part of the Abstract Expressionism movement, exhibiting both in New York and Paris alongside Wilhelm De Kooning, Ad Reinhardt, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Stanley William Hayter.

In left corner, appears to be an estate stamp with the artist's name, impressed into the heavy paper, in block letters.
Painting is in very good to mint original condition. Painting is in original modern custom frame, behind glass. Still retains the original gallery wrap, on reverse. (Painting has not been removed from frame). Frame has a few nicks, and a very slight separation between the frame, at top, in corner.
Entire measurements, framed, are approximately 41.5"H X 33.3"W
Painting alone, measures approximately 30"H X 22"W
