Arthur J. Hammond
A portrait and marine painter, Arthur Hammond was born in Vernon, Connecticut and as a youngster, lived in various parts of the country including Denver and California. At an early age, he began building small boats, which eventually led to his primary subject matter as a painter.
He studied art for six years with Eric Pape in Boston and in the studio of marine artist Charles Woodbury. He often traveled West to paint in Monterey, California, and these trips included stops in New Mexico and Arizona. He spent several years in Europe including along the Cornish Coast and in Paris where he studied at the Academy Julian. His subject matter also included winter scenes of New Hampshire.

Painting is extremely large, for shipping; (even before proper packing), and is oversized. We do offer local pick up, in the greater Los Angeles area.
The painting is in the original wood carved, craftsman frame. The frame is in very good original condition, with a few nicks, etc, from age.
The painting is in very good to excellent original condition. There has been some expansion of the board, over the years, which shows hairline cracks, in some areas. Please review all images.
