Original, vintage, impressionist landscape oil painting of the backyard garden of a frame house; attributed to the American impressionist artist Clarence Raymond Johnson, (1894-1981). Painting is oil on Winsor & Newton board. Painting's age is estimated at approximately 1948. Painting has had previous writing in portions along the lower right corner; graphite that has smeared/smudged, over the years. Due to lack of signature, painting is listed in the manner of Pennsylvania/California impressionist painter, Clarence Raymond Johnson.


Clarence Raymond Johnson, (1894-1981), was born in Ohio and spent much of his life in Pennsylvania. The artist attended the Ohio School of Art in Columbus, and the Pennsylvania Academy.

Painting has had previous writing along the lower right corner, in graphite. Graphite is smudged, and writing/signature is no longer visible. Due to lack of signature, painting is listed in the manner of Clarence Raymond Johnson.
Painting is in good original condition. There is a hairline crack along the top edge toward the center of the painting, about 2.5". There is also a large chip in the board, on the upper right corner, about 1.75" long, and about 1/4" to 1/2", wide. There is currently no frame. Please review images for details.
