Gary Hinte Original Vintage Modernist Romantic Venetian Maritime Seascape Panoramic Oil Painting

Original vintage oil painting of a romantic seascape in Italy, by artist Gary Hinte. There is a breathtaking sunset with architectural elements in a Venetian seascape with a couple under the ancient arches on a small island in the ocean, that appear as a romantic fantasy or a dream. Gary Hinte's original oil paintings rarely enter the market, and this is a very fine example of the artist's work. The painting is oil on canvas, attached to board and the painting is still housed in the original vintage frame. The original frame has. some gaps that should be sewn back, and there are some minor chips to the frame. The painting is signed in the lower right corner, with the date '62. The painting measures approximately. 17.75"H X 44.2"L, plus the frame, and is very large; (this will increase the cost of shipping). The painting is in original condition, with no previous overpaints or restoration performed.  

Gary Hinte is an American artist known for his mid-20th-century works, particularly serigraphs that capture urban and maritime scenes. Notably, his serigraph titled "Venetian Canal" has subject similarity to this painting. 

Hinte's artistic repertoire includes limited edition serigraphs such as "Lovers," depicting an embracing couple, and "Cannery Row," reflecting his interest in industrial and coastal themes.  

 His works are characterized by a modernist approach, often focusing on architectural and nautical subjects.

Gary Hinte lived for about a decade in Mexico with his wife Carol Samuels, and later moved to Bangor, Maine, where he painted sets and background sets for the local theater, and was a tireless volunteer. He passed away from Covid in 2021.
