Helen M Kroeger Original Vintage American Art Students League Abstract Expressionist Modernist Oil Painting on Arches Paper Peconic Bay Art
Original, vintage Helen M Kroeger abstract oil painting, on Arches Paper, dated ’86, verso. Helen M. Kroeger was known for her earlier, impressionist landscapes, and was a member of a group of artists known as the “Peconic Bay Impressionists”. Evidently, the artist’s works progressed from a more post-impressionist style to more of an abstract/expressionist style, in her later works.
Member of the group of painters, (mostly women), called the “Peconic Bay Impressionists”, who painted on the North Shore and in Gloucester, MA, and who have recently seen increased popularity. See Terry Wallace: “Caroline Bell and the Peconic Bay Impressionists” and “Helen Kroeger and Otto J. Kurth: The Anchorage Studio and Peconic Bay Impressionist”. The subject of a recent retrospective and Southold Musem. Kroeger attended the Art Students League and studied with George Grosz and Frank Vincent DuMond.

The painting alone measures approximately 30” X 23”, with 1” borders
The painting is on a back mat, and still in its original gold, thin metal, vintage frame, that is a bit dented. Painting has been behind, (cracked) glass, previously, and protected by the glass. The (broken) glass has since been removed and will be sent without glass, during shipping. The painting is offset in the frame and will need to be re-set in the frame, at the very least. Painting may also be shipped, without the frame. The painting is in excellent, original, mint condition. There have been no overpaints, chemical cleanings, or restorations. Please review the images.
