Isabelle Rouault
(1910-2004)
Oil on Canvas, (with mixed media, possibly sand)
Signed upper left corner
(Influenced by her father, Georges Rouault's Celui qui croit en moi, fut - il mort, vivra (He who believes in Me, though he be dead, shall live, with the strong palette http://c8.alamy.com/comp/EX6PH7/painting-titled-twilight-by-georges-rouault-1871-1958-french-painter-EX6PH7.jpg ), 1948)) Rouault is written in what appears to be Isabelle's hand, but the first initial appears to be a collaboration between a "G" for George, and "I" for Isabelle. The subject is very typical of George's spiritual symbolism, though-out. Subject clearly reflects
Georges Rouault's religious symbolism.
Estimated to have been created approximately 1955-1958. (Exact age unknown; canvas on the back, used to estimate age).
Painting is in very good to excellent original condition. There have been no overpaints, restorations, or cleanings.
