Original vintage antique Western oil painting on canvas, attached to board, by American artist Maynard Dixon (1875-1946). The painting's subject is a pprtrait of an older cowboy with a piercing stare expression. The painting remains housed in the original 1920 era wood frame. The measurements of the painting are approximately 15.70" X 20.2". There is a small flaw, a small puncture with a tear to the right as shown which could be repaired depending on the purchaser's preference. The painting has some writing verso on the back of the layered composite cardboard the canvas is attached to. One notation reads "Feb 20"; likely abbreviated for the year of completion, 1920, as there is a notation on the front that reads "1919", which is likely when the painting was started. Verso, there also is a stamp in the same type of wax or media as the other notation verso, where part of the artist's signature is visible twice  as well as a small stylized symbol.
