Original antique painting of a nocturnal seascape, in the manner of American tonalist, Albert Pinkham Ryder.

    Albert Pinkham Ryder (March 19, 1847 – March 28, 1917) was an American painter best known for his poetic and moody allegorical works and seascapes, as well as his eccentric personality. While his art shared an emphasis on subtle variations of color with tonalist works of the time, it was unique for accentuating form in a way that some art historians regard as modernist.

Painting is in overall good, original condition; with no overpaints, or previous restorations. Far upper left, and some areas in the very middle has some chips, and damage/abrasion to the canvas, as shown; backed and sealed to the board, for support.
Painting is a bit dirty with older bits of darkened varnish in crevices, and could use a good professional cleaning
Painting is in circa 1895, antique gold gild American frame. Antique frame is in very good original condition; there is some chipping on the lower right corner, and a longer chip in the gild, in the upper left, as shown. Please review all images.
Due to somewhat degraded/aged signature, painting is listed in the manner of American tonalism modernist, Albert Pinkham Ryder
