Original Vintage Antique Paul Rodda Cook American Regionalist Fine Art Texas Hill Country Impressionist Landscape Pastel Painting

Original antique pastel painting by Texas regionalist artist, Paul Rodda Cook, (1897-1972). Painting is a lovely, early work by the artist; a road traveling through Texas hill country, estimated at approximately 1928, or earlier.

Paul Rodda Cook (1897-1972) a native Texan, born in Uvalde, Texas about 70 miles west of San Antonio. In the late 20's Cook moved to Boerne, Texas about 20 miles N.W. of San Antonio, where his earliest works include landscapes of the Texas Hill Country, and still life paintings.

     Cook had a broad art education, studying under Hugo Pohl, Charles Rosen, Walter Ufer, Leon Gaspard and Herman Dudley Murphy and was an active exhibitor in the 20's, 30's and 40's winning numerous prizes, including one prize in the Davis Competition.

     Memberships include the San Antonio Art League; Southern States Art League; New York Watercolor Society.

Frame is the original gold gilt, plein air frame. The painting currently has (the original, early antique) glass that is also original to the frame, but may be removed before due to safety issues. At the very minimum, to preserve the glass, painting must be double boxed, upon shipment. (Shipping price will vary according to if glass is packed, with painting)
Inside of the glass, there are light deposits from the pastel, over the years, settling on the inside. Someone could very carefully clean the inside of the glass from the residue from the pastel. This does not affect the painting.
Pastel painting is in excellent, original condition. Frame is in very good, original condition. There are a couple of scratches from wear. Please review all images.
Painting alone measures approximately 16" X 20"
In frame, painting measures approximately 18.5" X 22.5"
