Vintage , cubist style, original oil painting, by California modernist, Evelyn Zeitler.

Evelyn Zeitler, (1921-2001), was born in Kenosha, Wisc. As a self-taught artist, she studied and moved freely, selling her paintings and finding work related to her artistic training. While living in Baltimore she married James Zeitler, the father of her four children. When her husband was sent off to war (WWII), Zeitler got work as a coloring artist at the Kodak Co. in New York. After the war she and her husband drove across the country living in their car, earning money with field-labor and a stint in a cherry cannery. In 1946, they settled in Redondo Beach, California, where her husband became a developer. Zeitler joined the South Bay Art Association(SBAA) and began exhibiting in her preferred media: painting, collage and mosaic.

Even though Evelyn Zeitler was based in California in Manhattan Beach, she also lived in Australia; where she was influenced by aboriginal art.
