Otto Henry Schneider Original Vintage Antique San Diego California American Still Life Oil Painting

Born in Muscatine, Iowa on August 8, 1865. At age 15, Schneider became a pupil of Vanderpoel and Grover at the AIC. Moving to Buffalo, New York, he continued his studies at the local ASL and at the ASL in New York City followed by work in Paris at Académie Julian, in 1910. Otto Schneider traveled extensively and taught at the Buffalo ASL for two years before moving to San Diego in 1923. In that year he joined the staff at the San Diego Academy of Fine Arts, and taught there until his passing, on January 23, 1950. Member: Assoc. Artists of San Diego, 1929 (cofounder); Contemporary Artists of San Diego. Exhibited: Paris Salon, 1911; California State Fair, 1930; Oakland Museum, 1939. Awards: fellowship prize, Buffalo Society of Artists, 1912, 1917, hon. mention, 1922; hon. mention, Southern California Artists, 1931. Works held: Sand Diego Museum of Art. Painting measures approximately 25.8"W X 18.8", plus frame. Painting is still housed in carved wood gold gild vintage frame.
Estimated age is approximately between 1925-1930
Stamp on reverse of frame, with German writing/German address
Good condition. Very minor crackle to the left. Paint is in stable condition. There is light abrasion in smaller isolated areas. Please review images.
