Raoul Viard Original Haitian Marine Sunset Seascape With Boats Vintage Antique Oil Painting Gallery Framed

Raoul Viard, (1923-1991), was a well known and respected, Haitian painter. His work is reflected in brilliant hues of red and blue; is most prominent subjects are marine and seascape scenes, of fishing boats, with extraordinary sunsets, reflected off the water of the ocean. This painting is a thick palette, oil on canvas, (with nails securing the painting to the stretcher frame). It signed on the lower right corner, and has a gorgeous, modern, custom frame that was purchased within the last few years. Painting alone, measures, 16"X24".
In frame, the painting measures, approximately 26.5"X18 3/4". Painting is in mint, original condition, and is a brilliant, and quietly beautiful scene by the artist; one of the best examples by the artist, on the secondary, and primary, art market.

There is an old card that was placed within the back of the painting, with information on the artist, typewritten, on reverse, (from when the artist was in Haiti):

"Raoul Viard was born in 1923. He is best known for his seascapes and brilliant colors applied with a spatula. The fact that he is a prolific painter who has been around for a long time has caused some to look upon his work as a "typical Haitian Painting", with commercial overtones. He has been exhibited locally and in the US, where his work was chosen by the Haitain Government to inaugurate the World Health Organization, in Washington, D.C."
