Original, vintage hard edge gouache on canvas painting, by New York artist Solomon "Sol" LeWitt (September 9, 1928 – April 8, 2007) was an American artist linked to various movements, including Conceptual art and Minimalism.

Sol LeWitt came to fame in the late 1960s, with his wall drawings and "structures" (a term he preferred instead of "sculptures") but was prolific in a wide range of media including drawing, printmaking, photography, painting, installation, and artist's books. He has been the subject of hundreds of solo exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world, since 1965.

The painting measures approximately 36" X 36"
Signed verso of canvas. (There are a couple of areas, verso where the artist's name/initials, appear)
Estimated to have been created, in approximately 1957. (appears to be dated verso, 57, as well)
The painting is in excellent, original condition. There is a large rectangular piece of, (possibly canvas), that was glued/sealed to the painting, in creation, by the artist; this can be seen in the subtle differing levels of the canvas; (to the lower left quarter of the painting). This is obvious intent by the artist in his creation, and not restoration; but should be mentioned for quality assurance, as this is not easily discernible, from the images. There are a couple of very small chips, in various areas, that are unrestored. There is also what appears to be a very small smudge on the side. There have been no restorations or over-paints. All paint is original to the painting. Please review all images.
