Original vintage antique Northern California San Francisco landscape of a Native American encampment of tipis/tepees in with winter, near a lake, by William Skilling(American/British, 1862-1964).

William Skilling was a British-American artist who settled in San Francisco later in life. The settled California artist was renowned for his portrait and landscape paintings. Skilling served in World War I before settling in San Francisco, where he passed away on April 8, 1964. He also created copies of works by artists such as Edward Hicks, Parson Fisher, and Giuseppe Arcimboldo. His exhibitions included the Oakland Art League in 1928.

painting is estimated to have been created approximately 1920; (just after WWI, when the artist settled in Northern California, in San Francisco). The tribe is likely Ohlone / Costanoan. The painting measures approximately 14" X 20" and is signed on the lower right. The painting has had some light restoration from pin dots of missing paint. There are still some tiny blemishes and tiny impressions which are deeper in the canvas. The painting may still need some minor restoration.
